Description

Bolivia – Edwin Huanca, Juan Boyan

Bolivia – Edwin Huanca, Tuki Tuki is a fully washed Red Catuai coffee grown high in the Yungas of Bolivia, in the Caranavi region of La Paz. Produced at 1,450 meters above sea level, this coffee reflects both the resilience of Bolivian coffee culture and the quiet precision of smallholder farming.

The coffee comes from the 30-hectare farm of Edwin Huanca, where 14 hectares are dedicated to coffee cultivation. Like most producers in Bolivia, Edwin works on a modest scale, relying on careful hand harvesting and traditional methods rather than chemical inputs. His farm is nourished naturally by surrounding trees, whose fallen leaves replenish the soil and support long-term health.

After harvest, cherries are processed on site using a fully washed method. They are carefully sorted, pulped, and fermented for 14–20 hours before being washed in fresh running water and dried slowly on raised beds for up to 20 days. Multiple stages of sorting—both mechanical and by hand—ensure only the highest-quality coffee makes its way to export.

Edwin works closely with Juan Boyan and Bolivia-based exporter Atoq, a partnership that has helped connect small producers like Edwin to international markets while supporting better pricing and long-term sustainability. As coffee production in Bolivia experiences renewed energy from a new generation of producers, coffees like this represent both heritage and possibility.

This coffee is roasted to order and offered as whole bean in 12oz and 1lb bags.
